Account Setup & Configuration
This guide covers all account configuration options available in GroupBuySEO, from basic profile setup to advanced notification and security settings.
Accessing Account Settings
Navigate to Settings from any page:
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
- Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu
- Or visit https://app.groupbuyseo.org/settings directly
Profile Information
Basic Profile Settings
Settings → Profile
Configure your basic account information:
- Username: Display name shown throughout the platform
- Email Address: Primary contact email (used for login and notifications)
- Profile Picture: Upload custom avatar (optional)
- Bio: Brief description (optional, visible if you participate in community features)
- Time Zone: Automatically set, but can be manually adjusted
- Language: Interface language (English, Spanish, French, German, etc.)
Email changes require verification. You'll receive a confirmation link at your new address before the change takes effect.
Contact Information
Settings → Profile → Contact Details
- Secondary Email: Backup email for account recovery
- Phone Number: Optional, required for SMS notifications and two-factor authentication
- Company Name: For billing and invoices (optional)
- VAT/Tax ID: For businesses requiring tax documentation
Security Settings
Password Management
Settings → Security → Password
- Click "Change Password"
- Enter current password
- Enter new password (minimum 8 characters, include uppercase, lowercase, and numbers)
- Confirm new password
- Click "Update Password"
For security, you'll be logged out of all devices after changing your password.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication
Enhance account security with 2FA:
Enable 2FA
- Click "Enable Two-Factor Authentication"
- Choose authentication method:
- Authenticator App (recommended): Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password
- SMS: Receive codes via text message
- Email: Receive codes via email
Set Up Authenticator App
- Scan QR code with your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit code generated by the app
- Save backup codes securely (shown only once)
Verify Setup
- Log out and log back in
- Enter 2FA code when prompted
- Optionally trust device for 30 days
Store backup codes in a secure location. If you lose access to your 2FA device, backup codes are the only way to regain account access.
Active Sessions
Settings → Security → Active Sessions
View and manage all active login sessions:
- See which devices are currently logged in
- View location and last activity time
- Click "Revoke" to log out specific sessions
- Click "Revoke All Other Sessions" to log out everywhere except your current device
Subscription Management
Current Plan Details
Settings → Subscription
View your subscription information:
- Current Plan: Plan tier (Basic, Pro, Enterprise)
- Billing Cycle: Monthly or Annual
- Next Billing Date: When your subscription renews
- Active Tools: Number of tools activated vs. plan limit
- Usage: Current month's activity and metrics
Upgrade or Downgrade Plan
Settings → Subscription → Change Plan
- Click "Change Plan"
- Select new plan tier
- Review pricing difference (prorated if mid-cycle)
- Confirm change
Important:
- Upgrades: Take effect immediately, billed prorated amount
- Downgrades: Take effect at next billing cycle to avoid losing paid time
- Tool limits: If downgrading, ensure active tools don't exceed new plan limit
Cancel Subscription
Settings → Subscription → Cancel Subscription
- Click "Cancel Subscription"
- Select cancellation reason (optional feedback)
- Choose cancellation type:
- Cancel at end of billing cycle: Retain access until period ends
- Cancel immediately: Lose access immediately (no refunds)
Annual subscriptions are non-refundable. Cancellation provides access through the end of your paid period.
Billing & Payment
Payment Methods
Settings → Billing → Payment Methods
Manage payment options:
- Add Payment Method
- Credit/Debit Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
- PayPal
- Bank Transfer (Enterprise only)
- Set Default: Choose which method to charge
- Remove Payment Method: Delete saved payment options
Billing History
Settings → Billing → Invoices
View and download past invoices:
- All transactions and receipts
- Filter by date range
- Download PDF invoices for accounting
- Export to CSV for expense tracking
Billing Address
Settings → Billing → Billing Address
Update billing information:
- Company name
- Address line 1 and 2
- City, State/Province, Postal Code
- Country
- VAT/Tax ID
Notification Preferences
Email Notifications
Settings → Notifications → Email
Customize which emails you receive:
Account & Billing:
- Subscription renewal reminders (7 days before)
- Payment confirmation
- Invoice available
- Plan changes
Tool Updates:
- New tools added to platform
- Tool downtime or maintenance
- Tool credential changes
- Usage limit warnings
Marketing:
- Newsletter and product updates
- Special offers and promotions
- Educational content and tips
You can opt out of marketing emails while keeping important account and tool notifications enabled.
SMS Notifications (Optional)
Settings → Notifications → SMS
Receive text message alerts:
- Critical tool outages
- Security alerts (login from new device)
- Billing failures
- 2FA codes
Note: Phone number required. Standard messaging rates apply.
In-App Notifications
Settings → Notifications → In-App
Control dashboard notifications:
- Tool status changes
- New feature announcements
- System maintenance notices
- Recommendations based on usage
Dashboard Preferences
Layout & Display
Settings → Dashboard → Display
Customize your dashboard appearance:
- Layout Mode:
- Compact: More tools per screen
- Comfortable: Larger cards with more details
- List: Simple list view
- Theme:
- Light mode
- Dark mode
- Auto (follow system preference)
- Tool Card Info:
- Show last used date
- Show activation status
- Show usage statistics
Default Landing Page
Settings → Dashboard → Default View
Choose what you see when you log in:
- Dashboard overview (default)
- My Tools
- Tools library
- Usage analytics
- Custom preset
Privacy Settings
Data & Analytics
Settings → Privacy
Control data collection and usage:
- Usage Analytics: Help improve platform (anonymized data)
- Personalized Recommendations: Tool suggestions based on activity
- Marketing Attribution: Track how you found GroupBuySEO
Account Visibility
Settings → Privacy → Visibility
If community features are enabled:
- Profile Visibility:
- Public
- Private
- Team only (Enterprise)
- Activity Visibility:
- Show recent tool usage
- Show tool reviews/ratings
- Hide all activity
Team Management (Enterprise Only)
Add Team Members
Settings → Team
For Enterprise plans with multi-user access:
- Click "Invite Team Member"
- Enter email address
- Select role:
- Admin: Full account access
- Member: Tool access only
- Viewer: Read-only access
- Send invitation
Manage Permissions
Settings → Team → Permissions
Control what team members can access:
- Tool activation/deactivation
- Billing and subscription changes
- Team member management
- Usage reports
API & Developer Settings (Pro/Enterprise)
API Access
Settings → Developer → API Keys
For programmatic access:
- Click "Generate New API Key"
- Name the key (e.g., "Production Server", "Test Environment")
- Copy key (shown only once)
- Set permissions (read-only or read-write)
API keys grant access to your account. Never share them publicly or commit them to version control.
Webhooks
Settings → Developer → Webhooks
Configure event notifications to external systems:
- Click "Add Webhook"
- Enter endpoint URL
- Select events to trigger webhook:
- Tool activated
- Tool deactivated
- Subscription changed
- Billing event
- Set secret for signature verification (optional)
Export Account Data
Request Data Export
Settings → Privacy → Export Data
Download all your data:
- Click "Request Data Export"
- Select data to include:
- Profile information
- Tool activation history
- Usage statistics
- Billing history
- Receive email when export is ready (usually within 24 hours)
- Download ZIP file containing all data in JSON format
Delete Account
Permanent Account Deletion
Settings → Privacy → Delete Account
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All data will be deleted within 30 days.
- Click "Delete Account"
- Confirm you understand:
- Access to all tools will be terminated immediately
- No refunds for remaining subscription time
- All data will be permanently deleted
- Deletion cannot be undone
- Enter password to confirm
- Click "Permanently Delete My Account"
